Deep Oscillation at Lymphara Clinic
Deep Oscillation® is a specialist therapy I use alongside Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) where appropriate as part of post-operative treatment.
It creates gentle movement within swollen, tender or changing tissue without the need for deep or aggressive pressure, making it particularly useful after surgery when swelling, discomfort, bruising and tissue changes can all be part of recovery.
You may also hear Deep Oscillation referred to as HIVAMAT, particularly if your surgeon has recommended finding an MLD therapist who offers it as part of your post-operative care.
What is Deep Oscillation?
Deep Oscillation uses a pulsed electrostatic field to create tiny movements within the tissues beneath my hands or a specialist applicator.
Think of the gentle attraction created by static electricity. During treatment, this rhythmic electrostatic attraction and release switches rapidly on and off, creating tiny movements within the tissues over and over again.
Unlike deep massage or mechanical vibration, this movement isn't created by pushing firmly into the body. Deep Oscillation is also non-thermal, meaning it doesn't generate therapeutic heat.
Its effects within the tissue are why Deep Oscillation is used therapeutically for oedema, inflammation, pain and tissue changes, while remaining gentle enough for sensitive areas.
Why use it after surgery?
After surgery, your body's healing response can leave tissues swollen, bruised, tender and firm. Your lymphatic system plays an important role in clearing excess fluid during this process.
Deep Oscillation gives me another gentle way to work with those tissues as part of your post-operative treatment.

Deep Oscillation + MLD
Deep Oscillation doesn't replace Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
MLD uses gentle, directional skin-stretching movements based on lymphatic anatomy. Deep Oscillation works differently, creating tiny movements within the tissues without requiring significant external pressure.
Deep Oscillation can be delivered through my gloved hands while I perform MLD, so I can combine the tissue effects of Deep Oscillation with the precise, directional hands-on treatment your recovery needs.
This means I can adapt the treatment as I work, based on your swelling, tenderness, tissue changes, stage of healing and any guidance from your surgical team.

This is particularly common following lipoedema liposuction, where some surgeons include it within their post-operative protocols.
